Urban Sculpture Playground

The redevelopment project for three playgrounds in the Municipality of Thessaloniki is a donation of Stavros Niarchos Foundation to the city of Thessaloniki.

The playground was organized as an “Urban Sculpture Garden” based on the Highway Code theme. The underlying design of the engravings, the tiling materials, the color palettes, and the urban equipment in combination with the play sets chosen reinforce the theme. Two playing areas are formed, where children are able to play freely and safely, to roller-skate or bike around. The first zone is designed for younger children, and features a more sculptural character. A small, raised, curvilinear plateau is formed within its limits, adjacent to the Highway Code themed circuit. The second zone is designed for older children.
