The Box House

The project refers to the radical renovation of an existing building. The works include the repair and static reinforcement of the asset, the aesthetic upgrade and the energy update.

The architectural study of the new house is aimed at ensuring the best possible living conditions in terms of thermal and visual comfort, meeting the desired levels of humidity, quality of indoor air and soundproofing of the shell. Having this in mind, the team handled the shell by creating a wooden box on the first floor as a covered veranda with horizontal and vertical shading wherever required and given the orientation of the facade.

Wood is also used widely in the rest of the house, creating warm niches for the openings. In addition, the vertical slots on the white plaster on the facades have, a resulting minimal harmonic synthesis of the Box House.
