Kite Playground

The redevelopment project for three playgrounds in the Municipality of Thessaloniki is a donation of Stavros Niarchos Foundation to the city of Thessaloniki.

The playground is organized around the “kite” theme. Two distinct playing areas are formed: one for children above the age of 3 and another for infants. Colored pentagons, letters, and numbers engraved on the playground floor form a kite with its tail, enabling spatial flow, which evokes the zest for playing. Adhering to a sculptural approach, the tail of the kite is shaped into a seat-sculpture in the space under the canopy, for chaperones and children alike.
